Configuring Zone Events and Alert Workflows

Zone-aware monitoring becomes actionable when teams define the event they need to detect, the conditions that qualify it, and the response that should follow. This guide outlines how to scope entry, exit, dwell, temperature, and exception workflows for a SNAPTAG deployment.

Define the Operational Zone

SNAPTAG uses defined operational zones and configurable entry and exit rules to support location-aware workflows. Coverage and event performance depend on tag placement, gateway layout, site materials, and the operating environment.

Choose the Event Conditions

Configure only the events needed for the workflow being evaluated:

  • Zone entry and exit events
  • Dwell-time thresholds within a configured zone
  • Supported temperature-threshold events
  • Multi-condition rules where supported and included in the project scope
  • Configured response steps for operational exceptions

Plan the Notification Workflow

Available notification and integration paths depend on the selected platform configuration and project scope. During design, define who needs each event, what context they need, and which supported channel or integration will be validated.

Validate Event Performance

Test coverage, event timing, false positives and false negatives, connectivity, and operator response in the actual site. Performance depends on the configured sensors, connectivity, event volume, gateway layout, and deployment architecture.

Useful alerts start with clearly defined zones, event conditions, and response ownership that match the operating workflow.

A useful zone-alert workflow is built around one operational question, measurable event criteria, and a defined response. Validate the configuration in the actual environment before expanding it to additional zones, assets, or workflows.
